Ersan ASLAN, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, stated that the university, public and private sector should work together in the establishment of R&D Centers and said, “Our development in our R&D centers will emerge more clearly in 2023.”

Ersan ARSLAN, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology, who came to Manisa to listen to the problems of the industrialists and their expectations about R&D, made examinations together with Governor Erdoğan BEKTAŞ in 4 companies that produce molds in Manisa.

Governor Erdoğan BEKTAŞ first informed Undersecretary ASLAN about the industry and economy of Manisa at the governor’s office. After the briefing at the Governor’s Office, Undersecretary Ersan ARSLAN, Deputy Undersecretary Assoc. Dr. Cevahir UZKURT and Industrial Parks General Manager Yaşar ÖZTÜRK attended the panel on ‘Why R&D Center’ in Manisa Industrial Park Conference Hall.

In the panel, Governor Erdoğan BEKTAŞ, CBU Rector Prof. Dr. Kemal ÇELEBİ, Manisa Industrial Park President Sait TÜREK and company representatives.

Erbil KALMIŞ, Manisa Provincial Director of Science, Industry and Technology, who made the opening speech of the program, stated that there are 9 R&D Centers in Manisa and that they have started to work on the establishment of 7 more R&D Centers.

Sait TÜREK, Chairman of the Board of Manisa Industrial Park, stated that public institutions and regional organizations should act jointly on technology, and that countries with information and technology, especially in Europe, are now in a leading position. TÜREK stated that they are working to make the IP in Manisa an example for Turkey in terms of R&D, and gave the good news that new R&D Centers will be operational in the coming years with various works to be carried out with ministries and public institutions.

CBU Rector Prof. Dr. Emphasizing that universities should be involved in R&D studies, Kemal ÇELEBİ said, “As a university, we create the science side of technology. However, we still could not establish a full cooperation between the university and the industry in Manisa. We hope that this union will be formed in the future. For this, we are ready to do our part as a university. We look forward to working on R&D in particular. We will establish an important R&D Center for Manisa within our Techno Park project, which we will already create,” he said.

“WE SHOULD PRODUCE HEAVY PRODUCTS FOR LIGHT MONEY IN LOAD”

In his speech at the panel, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology Ersan ASLAN stated that they held meetings with representatives of 24 different sectors at regular intervals and listened closely to the problems they experienced.

Undersecretary ASLAN pointed out that the most important subject of the meetings was the R&D centers and stated that they exchanged ideas with the representatives of the companies on the solution of the problem.

Stating that competitiveness in the world is not about producing too much or selling too much, ASLAN said, “There is no concept that a best seller can have a very competitive structure. We have to produce products that are light in load and heavy in money. We will produce both knowledge and technology, thus we will increase our competitive power to the top. In the new competitive environment, the more you embed information into products, the more you increase your prices per kilogram in export-oriented studies.

EMPLOYEES COLLABORATION FOR R&D CENTERS

Undersecretary ASLAN stated that an infrastructure is ready in Turkey in terms of R&D, and said that information should now be included in the goods produced in Turkey and important studies have been made for this. Emphasizing that there are R&D centers established by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology in Turkey, Undersecretary ASLAN stated that they have established R&D centers in the private sector, but the number of these should increase.

Underlining that the university, public and private sectors should work devotedly in the establishment of R&D Centers, Undersecretary ASLAN said, “The university, the public and the private sector need a more devoted work in the establishment of R&D Centers. It’s a long road. During this time, we have to take this process together with patience. When we look at the time when the glass is overflowing, the target in R&D is 2023. In other words, our development in our R&D centers will emerge more clearly in 2023.”

After his speech, Undersecretary ASLAN exchanged views on the R&D Center with the representatives of the companies participating in the panel.
