Erdemir Group opened Turkey’s largest Steel Service Center in the Manisa Industrial Park, accompanied by the “Steel and Life” Sculpture Exhibition. The Erdemir Group, which has made significant contributions to the industry and development of our country for 50 years, opened the Steel Service Center located in the Manisa Industrial Park with the “Steel and Life” Sculpture Exhibition, which took place on 12 November 2015, accompanied by a classical music concert. Providing customer-oriented solutions with its Steel Service Centers in 4 different regions of Turkey, Erdemir Group will continue to provide services to the automotive main and sub-industry, white goods industry, heating industry, manufacturing industry and many other sectors with its steel service centers in various strategic regions of our country.  With Erdemir Steel Service Centers, the Erdemir Group is proud of being a business partner that offers a wide range of effective solutions to its customers, with its stocking, precise and appropriate sizing (cutting, slitting, etc.) services for customer needs, rather than being a steel supplier that produces only the main raw material. Erdemir Steel Service Center Manisa Facilities, which will serve with the quality and assurance of the Erdemir Group, will contribute to the industry of our country and the region as the largest enterprise among Turkish Steel Service Centers, with an open area of 70 decares and a closed area of 25 decares. In addition, the Manisa facility will serve as the most modern steel service center of our country with the equipment and equipment it contains. Manisa Steel Service Center will provide cold slitting service with an annual capacity of 150,000 tons with a high quality production line and the facility also has a closed stock area of 40 thousand tons. Having completed the first phase of the total investment with the cold slitting line commissioned at the facilities, the Erdemir Group plans to commission new additional lines in the coming period. Erdemir Group, which carries out special production in precise tolerances for the needs of the user, together with Erdemir Steel Service Centers, will become an important link in the product supply chain in the region with its new facility in Manisa. Erdemir Group Chairman of the Board of Directors Ali Pandır stated that they have turned into a customer-oriented, competitive and agile structure with the steel service center they have put into operation in Manisa, following the Gebze, Ereğli and İskenderun Steel Service Centers, regarding their Steel Service Center investments, the first of which was put into service in 2002. He stated that they continue to make breakthroughs in line with their vision of “becoming a world class company” and “being the reliable solution partner of their customers”. Ali Pandır, in his opening speech, said that China, Russia, etc., which produce steel above their domestic demands in the world. He stated that despite this difficult period in which countries made dump sales to other countries, especially Turkey, fluctuations in exchange rates were intense and final product prices were almost below the cost, they realized this new facility, which they laid two years ago with long-term thinking, with an investment of 27 million dollars.  Adding to his words that many foreign steel producers such as China, Russia and Ukraine, which have their own raw material resources, in addition, benefiting from implicit government supports or selling at dumped prices in Turkey, cannot fill their capacities due to the current conditions, Pandır said that imports originating from China, Russia and Ukraine are not filling their capacities. He stated that it created an unfair competition environment by entering the Turkish market at detrimental prices. Adding that there is a serious imbalance in flat steel import and export data when Turkey’s foreign trade is analyzed, Ali Pandır stated that 6.3 million tons of flat steel imports were realized in the 9 months of 2015, compared to 1.8 million tons of exports. He stated that the livability limit determined by the World Steel Association (WSA) is 75%, but in the same period, 50% of the flat steel consumed in our country is met through imports, which causes 56% domestic capacity utilization. He emphasized that this situation causes great losses not only for the steel producers, but also for the Turkish industry and economy.
